Production Supervisor  - second shift

Our products are found in virtually every phase of food processing from harvesting, to transportation, to your local grocery store.  In addition to food, our products help protect, preserve, and transport all products that require climate controlled environments.

Standard Machine and Manufacturing is based in St. Louis, Missouri and has multiple manufacturing facilities in Missouri.  This Shop Supervisor is based in our Kirkwood Missouri location.

Job Summary

This position supervises and manages all the daily activities of a production area, including hourly workforce supervision and administration, equipment management, meeting production requirements, meeting production efficiency requirements, quality and safety.  They will also work towards the general improvement of the above mentioned areas.

Education, Training, Skills and Licenses Required

  • BS or Technical degree preferred
  • 3+ years Manufacturing experience
  • General manufacturing and machining skills
  • Supervision skills
  • Good interpersonal communication and problem solving skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Manufacturing process knowledge (blueprints, gages, tooling)
  • Knowledge of CNC machine tools (lathes and mills)
  • Knowledge of traditional machine tools and processes
  • Skilled in welding, plating, assembly, and quality gages
  • Good PC and software skills

 

Essential Functions

  • Supervise hourly workforce and address all issues related such as performance, administration, safety, discipline, etc.
  • Meet production requirements
  • Manage equipment efficiency and responsibility
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure a safe working environment
  • Ensure quality in manufactured components
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Production Planning to optimize responsible areas
  • Strive to continuously improve all functions of this position
  • Good attendance is required for this position

 

Marginal Functions

  • Use of PC computers and MRP systems
  • Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager

 

Equipment Used

  • Computer, CNC machine tools, traditional machine tools, and other manufacturing equipment

 

Work Environment This job operates in a manufacturing environment with no air conditioning and loud machine noises.  Occasionally oil and coolant is present in the air.  Employee is required to wear safety glasses. 

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.The employee is occasionally required to stand for long periods at a time; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds.  Specific vision abilities include close, distant, peripheral depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
